4. Children's Privacy
MeBest is designed for students aged 7–12 (Australian K2–K7). We take children's privacy extremely seriously:
- Accounts for children under 13 require parental or guardian consent
- Students use display names (nicknames), not real names
- No social features, chat, or user-to-user communication
- No user-generated content that could identify a child
- Parents can review, download, or delete their child's data at any time by emailing us
We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and follow the principles of the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), including the heightened protections for children's personal information.
5. Data Storage & Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
- Authentication uses email + password with bcrypt hashing and JWT-based sessions
- We use minimal data retention — we only keep what's needed for the learning experience
- Access to user data is restricted to essential personnel only
- We conduct regular security reviews of our systems
6. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted services to operate MeBest:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — AI explanations (we send only question content, never personal data)
- Google reCAPTCHA — Bot protection during registration
We carefully vet every third-party service and only use providers with strong privacy practices. We never send personal information (names, emails) to AI or analytics services.
